Gaye LeBaron Writing Scholarship

Gaye LeBaron is a beloved and respected writer, historian, journalist, and community voice in Sonoma County. She penned more than 8,000 columns on local history for The Santa Rosa Press Democrat during her six decades with the paper and wrote two books on the history of Santa Rosa.

Amount:  $5,000, which can be used for tuition, books, and/or living expenses.

Eligibility:  Santa Rosa Junior College students who plan to pursue a career in writing. Such careers can include journalism, communications, public relations, creative writing, or any other type of writing career. Applicants can be a current or transfer student and can reapply each year. College juniors who recently transferred from SRJC may also apply.

The Press Democrat Community Fund will award these scholarships in accordance with the scholarship’s purpose, student eligibility, and recommendations of the scholarship committee.
